Sundays are my favorite days. They are slow days. Jeff makes his morning coffee and steel-cut oats with spiced coconut milk for the boys, while I cuddle with them in bed. After they eat and get dressed, we walk over to the farmer’s market and gather fruits and vegetables that will be used to prepare nourishing meals throughout the week. The kids have so much fun sampling what’s in season and have come to know our local farmers and vendors.
When we get back home, anything goes. No plans are made, we go with the flow. Sometimes Jeff gets out his guitar and Judah and I make up silly songs. Ben babbles along and strums the guitar strings. Other times, we go on a nature walk or occasionally, to the beach. No matter what we do, the day is filled with cuddles, lots of breastfeeding, big belly laughs, a handful of brotherly fights and ends with a home-cooked meal.
Becoming a mother has made me incredibly aware of how fleeting life is. The days can be long, but the years are all too short. I’ve long-admired the photography of Ashley Jennett and way she captures beauty that is found not only in the simple and honest moments, but the moments in-between. Our session was natural, effortless and lots of fun. Thank you, Ashley, for capturing this time in our lives as a family, as we are.
