There are three things I like to do on my birthday: spend time with my family, give back and enjoy a good meal. This year, Jeff took the day off and we took the kids to the non-profit Wildlife Learning Center. Their mission is to rescue and provide lifetime sanctuary to wild animals in need and to offer public education in the life sciences and conservation. I could go on and on about what a special place this is! A friendly biologist facilitated an up-close experience with a few different critters. We learned about each animal, habitat, what they eat and how they protect themselves in the wild. Of course, Judah had a lot of questions to ask! Next time we visit, I will take more pictures and write about it more in-depth. When we got home, the kids surprised me with purple balloons, a handmade card and a beautiful silver and turquoise bracelet that they picked out with Daddy at the Indian Art Center. The bracelet has a bear paw on it which came with a handwritten note card that says, “Power, Healer, Strength, Guardian of the West.” To end the day, Jeff took me to a romantic little wine bar and seasonal restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and good conversation in front of a cozy fireplace.
